American Heart Month

American Heart Month

February is American Heart Month! At Vera Roasting Company, heart health is extremely important to us. We infuse all our coffee with the antioxidant resveratrol, which studies have linked with cardiovascular health. We are proud to support our local chapter of the American Heart Association and hope you will do the same!

February is the perfect time to think about cardiovascular health and commit to a heart healthy lifestyle. Heart disease is the number one killer of women and the American Heart Association created the Go Red for Women campaign to raise awareness about this deadly disease.

We are asking everyone to GO RED this February and improve your cardiovascular health!

G: Get Your Numbers

Ask your doctor to check your blood pressure and cholesterol and take steps to ensure they are in a healthy range.

O: Own Your Lifestyle

Stop smoking, lose weight, exercise, and eat healthy. Make healthier choices to help prevent heart disease.

R: Realize Your Risk

We think it won’t happen to us, but heart disease kills one in three women. Knowing your risk factors like family history, lifestyle, and stress can help you decide what preventative steps to take.

E: Educate Your Family

Make healthy food choices for you and your family. Teach your kids the importance of staying active and develop healthy habits.

D: Don't Be Silent

Tell everyone you know that heart disease is the number one killer of women. Heart disease kills more women than every type of cancer combined. Education is the first step on the way to reducing deaths from heart disease.

Please visit the American Heart Association website to learn more about what you can do to prevent heart disease. Don't forget to wear red this Friday, February 7th to support the Go Red for Women campaign!
